The Sangamon County Sheriff's Office Investigations Division consist of 13 Detectives and 2 Deputies assigned to the DCFS Child Protection Division. Detectives investigate the following types of crimes: property, crimes against persons/children, financial, cyber, sexual offenses, narcotics, etc. All Detectives receive extensive training to assist with investigating a variety of crimes. Detectives work in conjunction with the Sangamon County States Attorney’s Office regarding cases and obtaining warrants.
The Investigations Division is also home to the Sangamon County DIRT team. The DIRT team conducts narcotics investigations including buy bust operations and serving search warrants.
The Investigations Division is also responsible for the registering, maintenance of files and yearly verifications on approximately 112 Sex offenders, violent offenders and Juvenile Sex offenders who reside in the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office jurisdiction.
The men and women of the Investigations Division are dedicated to the protection of victims and property through the many investigations conducted each year.
